the chuck starts here
Along the roadside in rural Amador county there is a smattering of garbage, no doubt courtesy of the occasional passing car. As I rode my bike down E-16, a small country route also known as Mt. Aukum rd. I was saddened to see the legacy of fast-food america. Names appeared on the side of the road: Jamba juice, Mac Donalds, Starbucks.....Pepsi....etc. I started thinking about what a huge load of crap these mega-companies are saddling society with-then I caught myself; It isn't the fast food giants that are spreading this shit all over the roadsides of the american countyrside , it's their customers. People like myself who are up in arms about the proliferation of fast-food waste need to focus on the reality that these places wouldn't exist without the customers. There is an odd logic to the habit that these people have of throwing trash out of their cars....why shouldn't they? They are filling their bodies with garbage-it only makes sense that they would fill the environment with garbage as well to complete the package,so to speak. People such as myself who dislike having to view garbage on the road and consequently pick up after these slobs have to focus on the real problem-human ignorance at its root cause: television. T.V. is a worthy foe to enlightenment and the concept of dignity. Kind of sad that such a powerful tool is used this way but it is also something that is understandable when one looks at the major players who fill up the airwaves; Rupert Murdoch , the Republican party, the same megacorporations that produce the fast food and it's all too disposable packaging. It will take a lot of people to get this monster problem turned around. Be the first on your block to care.Don't be the last.
